BURY businesses are being urged to play their part in helping reduce the horrifying toll of deaths and injuries in the workplace.
They are being invited by Bolton and Bury Chamber to join this year's European Week for Safety and Health which will be launched on October 15.
Chamber health and safety manager Steve Horrocks said: "Last October, more than 7,000 workplaces up and down Britain participated in European Health and Safety Week.
"This year, we hope that Bolton and Bury businesses will use the event as a vehicle to put health and safety to the fore. Hundreds of people are killed doing their job each year and more than a million are injured."
And issuing a clarion call to local businesses, Steve went on: "Help make sure that your employees don't become one of these statistics.
"Send for an action pack today and do something to reduce this horrific toll of avoidable accidents."
