COME HERE...There's more for Jimmy Cricket fans. The comedian's show was cancelled due to lack of demand last week but Jimmy had the last laugh.
He sent out letters of apology and CDs to all 38 fans who had bought tickets for the show at the Lowther Pavilion in Lytham last Friday (Oct 5). Full capacity at the theatre is 450.
Beryl Hayes, who had been looking forward to the show, said that Jimmy's thoughtful actions had turned a disappointment into a treat.
"We were told it had been cancelled when we got there and then we were handed an envelope and a CD. We got our money back and we got our CD. I sat and listened to it and howled my head off -- it was very funny."
The letter, headed "Welly Boot Productions", said: "Dear friend, thank you for booking to see my show this evening. Unfortunately we couldn't get enough people with the same enthusiasm as your good self, so regrettably the Lowther Pavilion and I decided to cancel." It ended: "Please accept this best-selling CD as a token of our good will."
Beryl said: "It was wonderful that he did that. I thought it was way above and beyond the call of duty -- a very nice gesture. It's not often nice things happen like that".
