A COMPANY director in financial difficulties was found dead in his fume-filled car the day after he attempted to cut his wrists.
A verdict of suicide was recorded into the death of Mr Guy Morgan, at an inquest on Wednesday (Oct 10).
His body was discovered in his BMW in the garage at his home in Park Road, Prestwich, in May.
Police found a hose which led from the vehicle's exhaust into the car.
The inquest re-opened in Bury after an earlier hearing was adjourned, pending investigation into whether 54-year-old Mr Morgan had left notes which had not previously come to light. When the inquest opened in July, the coroner heard that when Mr Morgan's wife, Judith, returned to the home on the day of her husband's death, she found a note which read simply: "I'm in the garage."
But the dead man's brother, Colin Morgan of Pinfold Lane, Whitefield, told the earlier hearing that he had been aware of other notes which had apparently been mislaid or cleared out.
This had resulted in coroner, Mr Barrie Williams, adjourning the inquest until this week.
On Wednesday, it was stated that the day prior to Mr Morgan's death, when he tried to slit his wrists, he had left a note.
However, his family felt it was not important and had put it in the bin. It was not recovered.
Mr Morgan, who had run a contract cleaning company, had experienced financial problems.
Previously, he had been admitted to North Manchester General Hospital after an overdose of tablets, but was released the same day.
Recording a verdict of suicide, Mr Williams said: "Clearly, he had been having business worries for some time."
Referring to Mr Morgan's actions on the day of his death, the coroner added: "What he did required preparation.
"Although that day there was no direct note referring to his state of mind, he must have known the intended consequences of his actions would have been fatal."
