THE Borough's blueprint for the future to make it the best possible place to live is to be launched next week.
The public are being invited to Bury Town Hall on Monday (Oct 15) afternoon to view the council's Community Strategy and Local Community Plans.
Newly-appointed Chief Executive, Mark Sanders and Council Leader John Byrne, will front the launch, together with a range of partners including health, police, probation, local businesses, voluntary and community groups.
They will form the core of a new Local Strategic Partnership designed to make the best possible use of resources.
Councillor Byrne said: "For the last two years we have been working towards this launch and the unveiling of our Community Strategy and Local Community Plans. "That has involved widespread consultation and discussion accompanied by a long and hard look not only at the services we provide and how we provide them, but also the way they can and should be delivered to meet the needs of the 21st Century.
"Throughout the community planning process, people have identified things they like and are proud of in the borough and their particular area. We want to make sure we build on these as we set out to tackle the things people are less happy with."
He admitted it would not be easy to achieve the targets set out in the Community Strategy and the Local Community Plans.
"But we are confident that the many good things in the borough and the many examples of where we work together, provide us with a sound base for working towards the future we all want to see," he added.
The themes identified under the Community Strategy are:
Developing a stronger community spirit.
Improving transport and the environment.
Creating a better future for all generations.
Making our communities safer.
Ensuring the health and well-being of our communities.
Improving the quality and availability of services.
Developing a competitive and diverse local economy.
As part of the official launch there will be an opportunity for members of the public to attend the Elizabethan Suite at Bury Town Hall between 2pm and 3pm to look over the new plans and also meet representatives from a wide range of organisations who will be manning information stands and stalls.
