A NEW bid for Blackburn with Darwen to become the Golden Jubilee City was submitted today.
Towns from across the UK have been asked to bid for the honour - to be announced next year - with rivals including Preston, Bolton and Blackpool.
The borough failed in its last bid a year ago - but this time has had the support of Blackburn MP Jack Straw who was unable to give his full backing last time because, as Home Secretary, his department decided the contest.
