HEARD the one about the athlete who suffers major injury problems, but still returns to take the sport by storm?
That was exactly the case for 80-year-old Bury Master Swimmer, Jack Neary.
This incredible athlete has had major problems, including serious damage to ligaments in both shoulders which forced a three-year lay off.
But would this setback deter Jack from going near a swimming pool again? No chance!
Jack, who hails from the Manchester Road area of Bury, took part in the Northern Counties Masters Swimming Championships in Macclesfield -- and his performance was breathtaking.
He raced away with two golds and a silver and not content with his already awesome efforts, he roused himself and summoned the strength to set a new record for 100m in the 80plus-year-olds race.
