A DELIVERY driver found to be over the drink drive limit in the early hours paid the price with his job.
Burnley magistrates heard how a night out had turned into a "disaster" for Craig Walton, 19, who at the time was working for electrical retailer Harry Garlick.
Walton, of Sandiway Drive, Burnley, admitted driving with excess alcohol.
He was banned from driving for 18 months, fined £100 and must pay £55 costs.
Elizabeth Reed, prosecuting, said that ust after midnight the defendant was stopped in Eastern Avenue, Burnley.
Police could smell alcohol on him and asked him to provide a breath test. He said he had only had one drink.
A roadside test proved positive and Walton was arrested and taken to the police station.
The lower of two tests there showed 57 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.
The legal limit is 35.
The defendant had no previous convictions.
Geoff Ireland, defending, said it had proved a very expensive night out for Walton, who had lost his job as a delivery driver.
He had gone out with friends after work and was on his way home when he received a call from a friend who had stayed at his home the previous night and had left his shirt there.
He asked the defendant to take it to him and Walton was going back home when he was stopped by police.
Mr Ireland said Walton had had two pints of fairly strong lager but had been drinking the night before.
