A LAST-GASP goal from Crewe defender Steve Foster denied North End what would have been a well-deserved point.
Foster headed in Kenny Lunt's 93rd minute free kick to take the game from Preston.
Mark Rankine had levelled the game on 60 minutes when he poked home Lee Cartwright's cross.
Crewe hadn't seem likely to score at all uintil Dean Ashton was brought on after just 26 minutes.
Within three minutes, the 17-year-old had turned in a perfect cross from Rodney Jack.
Once again, North End failed to use their chances and Jon Macken alone could have had the game warpped up for North End.
RESULT: Crewe 2 - 1 PNE
