NORTH End boss David Moyes has urged wantaway striker Jon Macken to think twice about any move -- and stay put at Deepdale with striking partner David Healy.
Macken, who had suffered a poor start to the season due partly to injury, temporarily became the PNE bad boy when he demanded a move after becoming the subject of a £4million bid from Division One highflyers Wolves.
But the boos he endured during North End's clash with Millwall soon subsided when he began to hit the back of the net -- first with two against Norwich and the opener away to Watford.
Now the 24-year-old has had to come to terms with the fact no-one seems to want him -- or at least that no-one is ready to stump up the cash North End want to lose last season's top scorer.
It is a situation Moyes is happy with: "I don't want to lose him and I do hope he will stay.
"But, at the end of the day, that is down to the player himself to decide. I would like him to stay."
The club have confirmed they have yet to receive another bid for Macken since his transfer request.
Both the club's hierarchy and Moyes have vented anger at Wolves for publicly announcing they wanted Macken.
This week, they showed the way business should be done -- giving away as little as possible about a possible signing. Reluctantly, the club have confirmed they are interested in Welsh international Jason Koumas, the Tranmere Rovers' player who was involved in the tackle which broke Steve Basham's leg.
It had been claimed North End would pay £1million plus two players for Koumas -- something North End have refused to confirm or deny.
All eyes are now focused on this Saturday when PNE travel to Gresty Road to play Crewe Alexandra.
The first of eight games in 16 days, a win would give the already-bouyant team a lift.
With Macken now finding the net again, Saturday would be an ideal time for his partner up front, David Healy, to start doing likewise.
Healy scored in the 67th minute for Northern Ireland against Malta. He returned to training on Monday.
