GRAEME Souness's first team squad weren't the only ones banging in the goals for Rovers this weekend.
Ian Miller's magnificent Under 19s thumped Wrexham 11-1 on Saturday to cap a goal-den couple of days for everyone connected with Blackburn Rovers.
And, to complete a stunning hat-trick, Rob Kelly's Under 17s also beat the same opposition 2-1 to keep themselves among the early pacesetters in the Academy Under 17s group C.
"We were very, very good and battered them from the first minute until the last," said Academy Director Bobby Downes of Miller's all-conquering heroes.
"It's rare to see a team sustain a certain level of performance for the full 90 minutes but that's exactly what they did.
"To be fair, they've done well over the last three weeks but probably haven't had the results to show for it.
"So we were due a few goals and they all came at once."
Rovers stormed into a 7-1 interval lead and they kept their foot on the pedal after the break.
Jon Walters, Andy Bell and Ciaran Donnelly all led the way with hat-tricks and there was a goal apiece for Michael Taylor and Alan Morgan.
Ross McKay and Carl Francis were the players on target for the Under 17s.
Meanwhile, next up for Rovers' two Academy teams are Bolton Wanderers this weekend.
And Downes is anticipating a far tougher examination against the men from the Reebok.
"We beat them in the Youth Cup last year and there's a bit of rivalry because they're from just down the road so they promise to be decent games."
