A POULTON man died after his car hit a tree in Singleton on Monday evening.
A Lancashire Police spokesman named the dead man as Thomas David Talbot, 43, of Beckdean Avenue, Poulton.
The collision happened on Mile Road, Singleton just after 8pm on October 15.
The spokesman said: "It appears that Mr Talbot was driving his Saab vehicle from Bolton where he was employed to Poulton where he lived."
He said Mr Talbot was driving down Mile Road, an unlit country road with a national speed limit, when the collision happened.
"It's believed that as he negotiated a slight right hand bend he lost control of the vehicle and collided with a tree.
"Mr Talbot was seriously injured and had to be cut out of the vehicle by the Fire and Rescue Service.
"He was treated by the ambulance and emergency doctor at the scene but died prior to his arrival at hospital," he said.
