CAN readers help? I am the last of an old Blackburn family, and am trying to reconstruct the family history for my own descendants.
My great-grandfather, Alfred Joseph Coleman, was born in Nottingham in 1882 but subsequently moved to Blackburn, where he worked as a tailor. Presumably he died in Blackburn and may be buried there. If so, can anyone help me with the dates and those applying to his wife, Elizabeth Gibson's death and burial?
My grandfather and his wife (Margaret Crook or Crookes) owned a bakery and confectioner's shop at 171 Whalley Old Road, Little Harwood. His younger son (also Alfred) took over the business.
The eldest son, my father, Francis Clarence, left Blackburn before the Second World War. But his sister, Edith, married John Bentley, who was prominent in local business as a funeral undertaker.
I would be most grateful for any information.
