WANDERERS' Reebok Stadium is to stage a RL Test against Australia next month after all.

ARL chiefs said their Ashes tour of the UK will now go ahead.

The ARL had called off the trip to Britain amid safety fears as the UK backs the war against the Taliban in Afghanistan.

But after intense talks the Aussies will now fly over on a shortened tour.

The revised tour will comprise just three Test matches, starting at Huddersfield's McAlpine Stadium on November 11, and continuing as previously arranged at Bolton's Reebok Stadium six days later (6pm kick off) and Wigan's JJB Stadium on November 24.

The Kangaroos were due to play their first match against world club champions St Helens on Saturday, but all four club games have been scrapped, hitting the four Super League clubs in their pockets.

League officials are confident of producing sell-out crowds for all three Tests thanks to the greater awareness of an international series being held exclusively in the North.

ARL chairman Colin Love said: "The board decided to proceed with the postponed Kanagroos tour in an abbreviated fashion.

"The vast majority of players have expressed their desire that the tour proceed. It has only been with the help of the British High Commissioner in Australia, the British Government and the Rugby Football League in Great Britain that we have been able to address the earlier concerns."

RFL director Dave Callaghan said: "We are absolutely delighted that the Kangaroo tour is back on. This decision is of major significance for the sport of rugby league, both in this country and internationally."
