BLACKPOOL and The Fylde College and Blackpool Hilton Hotel cooked up a special day for Year Ten pupils this week.
The youngsters, all from local schools, visited Blackpool's Hilton Hotel, North Shore, on Monday to find out what goes on behind the scenes in catering.
The pupils tried their hand at activities including cake decorating, setting up a table place and napkin folding. They also found out about opportunities in the hotel and catering industry, as well as enjoying a tour of the Hilton Hotel.
The college and hotel combined to organise the event as part of the Government's Springboard initiative.
David McClellend, of the school of catering and food production at Blackpool and The Fylde College, said: "The Springboard event is aimed at providing pupils with an insight into the opportunities available within the catering industry.
"This is a great event. The pupils all have fun and enjoy themselves while getting the opportunity to find out more about the catering industry."
