A HARD-HITTING drama highlighting the importance of road safety will visit four Fylde schools as part of a two-week Lancashire tour.
The play, Never Saw The Day, will be seen in the next two weeks by students at Lytham's King Edward VII and Queen Mary School, Lytham St Annes High Technology College, Baines School, Poulton, and Fleetwood High School.
A spokesman for Lancashire County Council said: "The play centres around a group of friends enjoying everything that life has to offer, with a romance blossoming and careers planned, until a tragic accident blights all their lives.
"The play is funny, moving and thought-provoking with an original workshop complementing the 50-minute drama. The performance is dedicated to those who have suffered as a result of road traffic accidents."
He said the play is aimed at youngsters aged 16 and above. He added: "Casualty statistics clearly show that this age range is most at risk as car drivers and passengers."
And he said pupils will also be encouraged to support a road safety initiative entitled Together We Can Make the Difference. The initiative, launched in June, 1998, has already received more than 17,401 pledges of support from the county's public. "Make The Difference aims to reduce road casualties, raise awareness of road safety issues and develop partnerships between local statutory authorities, companies and individual road users to help change road users' behaviour," he said.
The tour has been arranged by LCC's road safety group.
