VOLUNTEERS are being asked to step forward to help keep an eye on the police.
The Lancashire Police Authority, the watchdog organisation that allocates funds to the police force, is setting up a standards committee to monitor the way it works.
And the authority needs two members of the public to join the new team.
Councillor Malcolm Doherty, committee chairman, said: "We are really looking for people with special qualities who are able to communicate and deal with people and understand some quite complex issues and documents. The work they will be involved in will be interesting and varied."
Special training will be available for people appointed to the role, which should last for two years.
Anybody who believes they are independent, with an inquisitive mind and a willingness to help others, should contact the police authority for an application form on 01772 263486. Applications must be in by Wednesday, November 7.
