ST ANNES residents worried about a planning application for temporary offices have met with the housing organisation making the application.
Tenants and homeowners on Preesall Close and surrounding roads met representatives of New Fylde Housing (NFH) at the Civil Service Social Club, Shepherd Road, last Thursday evening (October 11).
At the two-hour meeting, residents voiced their thoughts on NFH's planning application to Fylde Borough Council for a temporary car park at the end of their cul-de-sac and temporary offices nearby.
One resident told The Citizen: "There was a very good turn out. They had to get more chairs. It was civilised, but a little bit noisy at times. People were quite strong in their comments." She said homeowners from surrounding streets had joined Preesall Close residents at the meeting, because they were worried about more traffic and congestion on the roads.
"We just asked questions mainly about the road and what they were doing about looking for premises. There's only one thing we can hope for and that is that the road issue will block the application. It's still in the air as far as we're are concerned."
Stuart Hampson, support services manager for NFH, said the organisation's board of directors was listening to what both their tenants and independent local homeowners had to say.
He said: "There were people who expressed views in favour. The majority expressed views against the application, in particular regarding the roads and access arrangements relating to car parking.
"We advised them that we take on board their comments and concerns." Council planners would be looking at the road issue, he added.
"It was a very open and transparent meeting and from the comments that I got back from people I spoke to was obvious that the approach we had taken was right," he said.
The planning application is expected to go before Fylde Borough Council's planning committee at the end of October.
