A BALACLAVA clad man grabbed a schoolgirl and made indecent comments to her as she walked along a quiet road near Torrisholme.
The 14-year-old local girl was approached at the junction of Barley Cop Lane and Folly Lane at about 6.15pm on Monday.
A man walking behind her grabbed her hair and began to make sexually suggestive remarks. She kicked him and was able to get away.
The attacker is described as male, white, in his 30s, wearing a dark leather jacket, black jeans and white trainers. Much of his head was covered by a balaclava.
A police spokesman said: "Obviously we would appeal for anyone who was in that area who saw anyone who was dressed similarly to the man is asked to get in contact with us.
"Obviously we do not want to create a panic but we would ask people to be mindful of where they are walking at particular times of day.
"People who have to walk alone should, where possible, stick to well lit, busy main roads."
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Lancaster police on 01524 63333.
