KID CREOLE and his colourful crew of funkateers are once again strutting their stuff in Blackpool as the Winter Gardens welcome the return of the spectacular 70s musical Oh! What a Night.
Yes, those funky flares and foot-stomping grooves are back and this time there is nowhere to hide. Even the most shrinking of violets will feel an uncontrollable urge to clap, sing and dance along with the highly enthusiastic and spritely group of young dancers.
Some of the original cast may have changed since the Blackpool audience were first bowled over by the show in 1997, but the show still manages to delivers large doses of that same 70s magic in a refreshing and rousing manner.
Set to a fabulous collection of disco classics, including Celebration, Play that Funky Music and YMCA, the show really makes for fabulous entertainment for all ages and gives the audience a much-needed winter boost of the feel-good factor. Kid Creole sets the scene, as he inventively plays two demanding roles in the show, as master of ceremonies and top DJ in the only New York nightclub to be seen in -- Inferno's.
He sings, dances and looks ultra cool throughout the show, as he adds his own special signature and flair to the show. Cast members bounce off his confident performance and positively shine with enthusiasm as they show off some stunning dance routines infused with high-kicks, mid-air splits and somersaults.
Stuart Ramsey and Rebecca Reaney make a stunning combination as they play the show's leading couple, Rik and Nikki. I must also mention Nigel Roche's absolutely hilarious performance as the camp dance instructor Stretch Mulligan. It is worth going to the show if only to see his fantastic rendition of the ever-popular YMCA.
Oh What A Night runs until November 3. Call (01253) 292029 for tickets or further information.
