BLACKPOOL Grand Theatre's new manager makes his debut in the New Year.
Peter Cutchie will replace Stephanie Sirr as general manager in January, 2002, and said of his new role: "Having had the privilege of running the much-loved Darlington Civic Theatre and Arts Centre for the past four and a half years I am very much looking forward to moving to The Grand Theatre.
"I have always enjoyed new challenges and the theatre in Blackpool is a well-established venue on the national touring circuit." Prior to working in Darlington, Mr Cutchie was the artistic director at the Queen's Hall in Hexham and general manager of the West Yorkshire Playhouse, Leeds.
He is also a council member of the Theatre Managers' Association and a member of the Northern Arts Board.
Of her successor Stephanie Sirr said: "I think Peter Cutchie is an excellent choice for the Grand and I wish him every success."
The chairman of Blackpool Grand Theatre (Arts & Entertainments) Limited, David Coupe said: "The Grand is fortunate to have secured the services of an outstanding manager. Peter is vastly experienced. He is well respected and liked in the theatre industry."
Sam Lee, chairman of The Blackpool Grand Theatre Trust Ltd, added: "Peter Cutchie is coming to Blackpool at a very exciting challenging time in the theatre's history.
"Whatever challenges there are, however, we believe that he is equal to them and will take the theatre forward as one of the country's finest venues."
