BILLINGE lost their unbeaten tag in the Star Premier Division by being dumped 4-0 at Gerard Arms, but they still remain at the summit by one point over Gerard Arms.
Goals from Mark Clancy, Andy Ledger, Gary Ball and Martin Hynes left Gerard the only unbeaten side in the Premiership. Shoe's tussle at Sidac Social was abandoned after 80 minutes because of yet another fracture, this time Sidac's Paul Foster was the unlucky broken ankle victim.
College St Helens, now confirmed to be playing their home games at Newton's Common Road, played much better before going under to Penlake by 2-6. Carr Mill gave Eccleston United a great game before succumbing to a 4-6 home defeat, for Carr Mill, Dave O'Donnell, Paul Robinson (2) and Mike Devine hit the target with Eccleston's goals coming via Paul Wood (2), Gavin Scott (2), Anthony Wilson and Greg Plummer.
Lee Hollinghurst's strike for Clock Face Miners Welfare was not quite good enough as the visiting opponents, Old Congs (Haydock) won the day 1-2. Rifle (Dave Smith, John Thistlewaite) just edged out Rainford North End 2-1 at home. In Division One Pilkington A's Neil Conway and Darren Smith hit the goals in a 2-1 home win over Earlestown (Wellington), but Travellers Rest again came unstuck, losing 1-2 to Hardshaw Argyle.
Carborundum (Greg Clare, Mark Guile) battled out a 2-2 stalemate with Nogs Head (Neil Ody (2)). East Sutton Labour's 3-1 home beating of Prescot Leisure Reserves was mainly due to goals from Lee Davies and Peter Cummings (2). Graham Billinge and Dave Jacks (2) goals seemed to be enough to beat Grosvenor Park with a 3-2 lead, but an Andy Tibbins o.g. spoiled the day with the game ending 3-3.
The Division Two leaders Market Place kept their 100 per cent start intact with a 4-1 away win at much improved Wheatsheaf. Hot on their heels in second spot are York whose domination of the game resulted in an 8-2 win at Ramford Rangers.
Windlehurst, at present struggling for a settled side were whipped 2-7 at home by Clock Face Miners Reserves.
Lingholme were leading Bowling Green 3-0 at the interval with goals from Jamie Foster (2) and Steve Bradley, but a revival that cannot be explained by the Bowling Green management saw the visitors run out 3-4 winners. Les Ravenscroft (2), Lee Taylor and Ian Bingley being the heroes.
North End Reserves came to life with a bang, goals by Mark Ledwith (2), Sean Pearce and Marcer Giglio (2) giving them a 5-2 home win over Owls Nest. Next Saturday sees the first round of the Garswood Trophies sponsored Hospital Cup with the tie of the round obviously being the Gerard Arms/Penlake clash at Ecclesfield P.F.
