PRESTWICH Carnival brought a touch of sunshine to local voluntary groups as the rewards of the summer event were divided among the community.
Members of the Sunshine Team, which replaced the traditional Prestwich Carnival Committee, held a presentation evening at the Longfield.
Cheques amounting to £1,000 were shared between ten local groups, which included the St John Ambulance Brigade, the Longfield Companions, Prestwich Lions, Broughton House, Marauders football club, three Scout groups, the 22nd, 19th and Mohawks, and the Mayor's chosen charity.
Chairman of the Sunshine Team, Mr David Curtis, said: " We were delighted to hand over donations to local groups.
"The carnival this year was the best yet, despite the weather, and everyone had a great time."
