Widnes Albion A 25 Clock Face Miners 24 A DROP goal in the last minute of the game by Albion's Danny Doughty secured both points for the Widnes side, after Clock Face had fought to bring the scores level.
With the game well into the first half and Clock trailing by 18-2, they finally started their fight back, when from a scrum, the ball was kicked towards the Albion line, and full-back Steve Rybczynski won the race to touchdown, the try being goaled by Karl Walker. Then just on the stroke of half time Walker added a second penalty to make the interval score 18-10 to the Albion.
Straight after the break Clock's fight back continued, when stand off Mike Simmons raced through the Albion defence to score and with Walker adding the conversion they were just two points behind.
Another penalty goal by Walker mid-way through the half brought Clock level, but this was short lived, as a mistake from the kick off, allowed the Albion to mount another attack from close range which resulted in a converted try and Clock once again behind.
Not to be outdone, Clock hit back again when Rybczynski stretched through a ruck of players to touch down. Walker then goaled, to bring the scores back level, but then in the dying minutes Doughty secured the win for the Albion with his drop goal.
The M Leigh Plant Hire man of the match for Clock Face was Steve Rybczynski.
