I JUST wanted to take this opportunity to thank the people of St Helens and the surrounding area for all the support that has been shown towards Americans living here, since the horrible events of September 11.
Although I have lived here a little over two years, and have, from time to time, encountered a slight dislike for 'Yanks', the support and kindness shown towards the American people has been wonderful. Although I don't live in my country, I am still very much a patriot and was devastated by the attack of September 11.
The flowers and cards of condolence and support shown on walls, fences and markets, the flying of the American Stars and Stripes, all put me in tears of thankfulness to the people of St Helens, and all the wonderful people of the UK. My son is a US Marine and may be sent over at any time.
I am very thankful in the knowledge that he will be standing with British soldiers and others to fight against the disillusioned hatred of these despicable few.
God Bless the good people of St Helens and the UK.
