BURY-based Peelers Cricket Club hope the rain in Spain stays mainly on the plain next week when they travel to Minorca to take on the island's representative team.
The club, who play in the Rochdale District Midweek League and are based at Brooksbottoms CC, Summerseat have had the trip planned for 2 years after player Trevor Morton spotted the pitch on the Balearic island and made enquiries about arranging a fixture.
Formed in 1974 the club have had various grounds and began their life at Springfield Park, Rochdale before moving to Radcliffe Secondary School then Radcliffe CC.
They have won the Rochdale League on six occasions: 1976, 1978, 1986, 1995, 1997 and 1999.
They play the Minorca side tomorrow (Saturday) and have the possibility of a game against another touring side later in the week.
