WITH the ever-increasing number and size of industrial estates throughout Lancashire, scenic vandalism is fast becoming an epidemic.
As the majority of the estates are in valleys, the first thing to assault your vision when cresting a hill above one of them is the obscene glare of bare aluminium monstrosities shining up at you from the middle of what was a green and brown landscape.
Surely planning offices could make it one of the conditions for construction that the buildings blend in with the relevant area, with green/brown roofing panels and walls painted, where appropriate, to go with environment.
The improvement on the appearance of the countryside would far outweigh the small costs.
So, come on planning officers throughout the county, use a smidgen of nous when examining or passing planning applications.
