PENDLESIDE Hospice will be glowing again this year after the launch of its annual seasonal fundraiser.
Light Up A Life allows people the opportunity to celebrate the life of a loved one by sponsoring a coloured light bulb.
The bulbs will be switched on at a ceremony on Sunday, December 9 and will illuminate the outside of the hospice building throughout the Christmas period until the beginning of January.
Everyone remembering a loved one in this way will then be entered into a special book of remembrance which is kept on permanent display in the Hospice in Clone Road, Reedley.
This will be the fourth year of Light Up A Life and is one of the major fundraising events in the hospice calendar. Last year's, which saw over 2500 bulbs shining around the outside of the building, raised almost £20,000.
The hospice relies on the support of the local community and local companies to support the fundraiser. Any money donated in memory of a loved one will go directly towards the care of local people suffering from cancer and other life threatening illnesses.
Kaye Bartle, fundraising manager at the Hospice said: "Light Up A Life is such a special event for us as well as the people who choose to remember a loved on in this way.
"Christmas is a time that always evokes memories of loved ones and Light Up A Life allows people to remember them in a positive and poignant way."
Hospice Care for Burnley and Pendle ask for a minimum donation of £5 to sponsor a light bulb and in return donors will receive a special pin badge. Light Up A Life forms are available from all the Hospice's charity shops and from their fundraising department who can be contacted on: 01282 440102.
