"I THINK it was a very exciting game for the neutral but for both managers it was a bit disappointing at times but also very good at times," said Barnsley boss Nigel Spackman.

"I don't think we got the rub of the green and I could not believe the penalty decision.

"But after going 2-0 down we showed good character, showed desire, ambition and the skill to get back into it.

"We pushed Bruce (Dyer) on and he did a good job for us with Kevin Gallen who was playing his first full game.

"Andy Payton scored against us last year in my second game in charge and when he came on he immediately livened things up. He tucked the penalty away well.

"Burnley are a very good side with very good support."

Clarets manager Stan Ternent, said: "That was a frustrating afternoon.

"We gave away goals from three set plays, one of them a penalty, and that is not quite good enough for where we are coming from.

"We grabbed the lead back with about six minutes to go and then they got a free kick which Nik (Michopoulos) should have done better and saved it.

"Nik wants to have a look at the video and is entitled to do that.

"But the ball did not go into the top corner, it was five feet from the post and went over Gordon's (Armstrong) shoulder.

"Tony Grant showed he is a very, very good player and we have got a good squad of players here.

"But today was not one of our better performances.
