A LOOK at the Games children play.
SCHOOLS across East Lancashire will be joining in the 2002 Commonwealth Games experience soon. As the massive Manchester-based sporting extravaganza looms, here's how your child is likely to become involved:
Commonwealth Games Curriculum Pack: An online web-based active learning resource for schools. It uses the Games as a focus for delivering elements of the curriculum across key stages one to four. There will be opportunities for schools to influence its future direction, creating and publishing their own materials.
Passport 2002: A challenge and accreditation scheme for youngsters to participate in a range of activities including health, citizenship and sport.
Spirit of Friendship Festival: This will consist of arts and culture, sport, education and jubilee celebrations. The sport strand will include Active Sport Talent Camps.
Organise an event where they choose a Commonwealth country and have themed days or weeks at school.
Find a pen-pal in a Commonwealth country.
Learn about flags from the different Commonwealth countries and decorate their school.
