POLICE are warning Hallowe'en revellers to stay away from Pendle Hill this year for fear they may inadvertently spread Foot and Mouth.
On the advice of DEFRA, the police will be restricting access to the hill with road closures in Barley Village and Annals Cross, as well as roads at the other side of the hill between Clitheroe and Sabden.
Bus services and the traditional service at Barley Methodist Church will not be affected and local resident and farmers will have access.
Sergeant Tony Dickinson said: "We know that Pendle Hill is a popular site especially at Hallowe'en and the last thing we want to do is spoil anyone's fun.
"However DEFRA has given us clear advice so we have no option but to bar revellers this year".
