YOUNGSTERS across Pendle are all ship-shape thanks to the generosity of the Daniel Thwaites Brewery.
Thwaites' renowned Charitable Trust, which has assisted more than 150 worthy causes over recent years, has funded a new boat engine for the region's Duke of Edinburgh award scheme.
The award involves youngsters in twice-weekly training sessions on Berwain Reservoir in Colne.
Ken Simmons, a youth and community officer with Lancashire youth and community services in Pendle, said: "The new engine is something we have needed for some time and to say it will be very well used would be a gross understatement.
"We heard of the Thwaites' Trust and were absolutely thrilled when our application met with success."
