MORECAMBE police quizzed 74 children who were away from classes during school time during a two day operation this week.
The third Operation Bunk ran last Monday and Tuesday and resulted in 23 children being returned to school or taken to a designated place by officers.
It saw children of school age, whether with parents or without.
Throughout the hours the operation ran the police recorded no youth crime in the area.
PC Derek Snalam of the youth involvement office said: "The co-operation between welfare officers and recently appointed community beat officers is an excellent example of community bodies working in partnership to solve community problems.
"We were continually approached by the public, including many holidaymakers, who told us what a really good idea they thought this was."
