WE read about all these roadworks in Blackburn, unfortunately, they all seem to have come at once and would probably have been better staggered.
However, I feel that Blackburn should obtain city status this coming year, due to its position in Lancashire and the fact that in the 17th century it was the county town of the county of Blackburn, covering Accrington, Padiham, Burnley, Nelson and Colne.
Blackburn is a multi-cultural society and our Cathedral is the head of a large diocese covering most of Lancashire.
Queen Victoria gave recognition to Blackburn 150 years ago, so it would be right and proper for our present Queen to grant Blackburn city status.
