THERE'S a change of caretaker at Blackpool's Grand Theatre -- but we're not talking about the cleaning staff.
Harold Pinter's comic masterpiece, The Caretaker, which comes to the Grand in December, is to have a cast change.
Malcolm Storry, a familiar face on TV with credits in Heartbeat, Dangerfield, Midsomer Murders and Children of the New Forest, will take over from Michael Byrne in the role of Davies, the tramp in Pinter's play when it comes to the Grand from December 4 to 8.
Malcolm is also a well-known theatre actor with appearances in The Tempest at the Almeida, Art at Wyndham's Theatre and many RSC productions.
He will now play the part of the homeless Davies who is given a place to live by Mick and his brother Aston. What follows is a baffling, comical, desperate struggle for territory.
The Caretaker is acknowledged as one of the undisputed masterpieces of the twentieth century and has been performed all over the world since its premiere at the Arts Theatre in 1960.
Also starring are Lee Boardman, better known as Coronation Street villain Jez Quigley, and Julian Lewis-Jones.
The Caretaker is at the Grand Theatre from December 4 to 8 at 7.30pm on Tuesday to Saturday. Matinees are on Wednesday at 2pm and Saturday at 3pm. Call the box office on (01253) 290190 for tickets from £9 and more details.
