WHAT a fantastic performance against Wrexham on Tuesday night.
Despite being down to almost the last eleven available first team players this committed performance was a credit to all on the playing side at the club.
Off-the-pitch, however, there is little point in Steve McMahon moaning about the current number of injuries. He has been aware of the vulnerability of the squad since the end of season clear-out. Of even greater concern is the possibility of suspensions that normally occur at every club during the mid to late season.
Since the start of the season our group has continually highlighted the necessity to invest in team strengthening.
Tuesday night's performance was again backed by a large, faithful Tangerine support. Steve must reward the fans by continually banging on the chairman's door for a share of the recent "windfalls" the club has received, and buy three or four quality players. Fans have the impression that Karl Oyston may not be making any money available to Steve. We would welcome a statement either confirming or denying this is the case. The club's customers have a right to be informed on key issues.
Karl Oyston should also communicate to fans more often. He has implied in the past that two of his favourite communication channels are the club's Supporter's Association and its web site. The club is, thankfully, enjoying a much larger support these days, which will hopefully increase further in future. He should communicate more via the local press, radio and TV as opposed to a small select group, or those fortunate enough to have access to a PC. A football club is a "community asset" after all.
Good luck to Steve and his "Wrexham Warriors" for Saturday's home game against Chesterfield.
