ELEVEN-year-old Philippa Mugan loves her mum so much she named a train after her.
And her proud mum Lesley was chuff-chuffed to death to be at Blackpool North Station this week for the official naming ceremony of the First North Western 175 class, now to be called Mum.
Philippa entered a competition after Lesley brought back forms following a shopping trip to Asda in Accrington.
The store had got together with First North Western as part of a regional competition for school children to name three of the company's 27 new 175 class trains.
As Phillipa posed beside the train, she said: "I called the train 'Mum' because it's reliable and it gets me where I need to be!"
Mum Lesley said: "I'm just so excited. She is a little sweetie. People will see the name as it goes past in the station and say 'aah'. It's a nice sentiment."
Martin MacKenzie, customer relations manager for First North Western, said: "It's such an unusual name it just had to be a winner. We have got to live up to the name now!"
The train, already in service, will soon be fitted with a permanent metal plaque. And Philippa has already collected the other part of her prize -- a day out for her school pals to Blackpool Pleasure Beach, which they took in June.
Lesley said: "They were pretty impressed when she took them out for the day. She was the girl of the moment."
The new stock of 175s, including Mum, will run on several lines in the North West, including the Blackpool-Manchester Airport route.
