DARWEN-born musician Bryn Howarth is staging a concert at St Barnabas Church tomorrow.
A former member of 60s soul band Fleur de Lys, Bryn has appeared with such artists as Led Zeppelin and the Moody Blues and has recorded with top musicians including Chris de Burgh, Joan Armatrading and Cliff Richard - with whom he also toured for a time as a member of his band.
In 1974, Bryn became a Christian which brought a strong gospel influence into his music.
He has experience of developing worship and prison ministry and leading worship at many conferences in the UK. He now travels extensively, performing concerts both solo and with a band.
As well as bringing the Christian faith to his audience, he also conducts guitar workshops and leads seminars on worship, drawing on his wide experience in both the new non-denominational churches as well as the traditional churches.
Bryn will be at St Barnabas between 10am and 4pm to lead workshops on Intimacy in Worship, Help and Hindrances to Worship and Practical Worship and Worship and Intercession.
Visitors should bring something for a shared lunch; coffee and tea will be provided. The day costs £10 or £6 for half a day.
In the evening, Bryn will be in concert in the church from 7.30. Tickets are priced at £5 (£2.50 concessions) and are available by calling Les Collinson on 01254 702732 or Howard Brown on 01254 705939.
