TONY Parkes thinks Rovers could be the 'surprise package' this season in the Premiership.

Rovers have had a great start to life back in the top flight with a the 7-1 win over West Ham and draws with Manchester United and last week Arsenal.

But they need to beat teams like bottom club Leicester on Monday night at Ewood Park if they are to keep up the good work.

"We have got ten goals from two games and we can't wait to go out again and play," said assistant boss Parkes. "Hopefully we can be a surprise package this season.

"Before a ball was kicked, the talk was of survival which I think is sensible.

"But we have started very well and we are disappointed we haven't got more points, especially from the Sunderland and Derby games. The one game we were lucky to get all three points in was Everton.

"We are playing with a lot of confidence but we won't take Leicester lightly. Football has a way of bringing you back down to earth.

A lot of bookies would predict a comfortable Blackburn win against Dave Bassett's side but Parkes won't be drawn into that trap. "You can't forecast results. Bolton were 11-1 to win at Man United and that was laughed at but they did it. You can't take anything for granted."

"Leicester are fighting for their lives and we have been there we know what it is like. It is amazing how things can turn around and we don't want their run to start with us."

One man who won't face Rovers is former Ewood keeper Tim Flowers who joined Stockport on loan yesterday.

Meanwhile, Parkes says the deal to bring wingback Neil Clement to Ewood is now in the hands of First Division West Brom.

Blackburn have expressed an interest in the 23-year-old Hawthorns star.

"It is out of our hands now. They have said he is not for sale and it is up to them to make next move," said Parkes.
