HASLINGDEN soldier Chris White pushed his endurance, stamina and strength to the limit when he went 'on the run'.
Chris, 19, is serving in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers and competed against top runners from the Army, Royal Navy, and RAF at an event in RAF Halton, Buckinghamshire.
The former Haslingden High School pupil, who joined the Army earlier this year, came in second against tough competition.
Chris has been running for four years and has competed in the Great North Run. He said: "I did some running when I was at school and I didn't mind it. Then I went on to form a team with my local running club.
"I joined the Army only in April and was spotted when running for recreation -- so I was asked to come here.
"I came second and was happy about that because I haven't really trained for a long time."
Currently training to be a vehicle mechanic in the REME, he said: "I joined for the career and I'm enjoying it. I love the physical side of the training."
Chris is currently based in Bordon, Hampshire, and his parents Tony and Marjorie live in Haslingden.
