FORMER Rovers keeper Tim Flowers has missed out on the chance of a trip to is old club this evening when he joined Stockport County on a month's loan on Friday.
The 34-year-old former England international, who won a Premiership championship medal with Rovers in 1995, handed in a transfer request earlier this season and has finally been given a chance for regular first-team football with the Edgeley Park side.
Flowers had taken temporary charge of Leicester, along with Garry Parker, after Peter Taylor's sacking but the former Blackburn man has followed Parker out of Filbert Street.
City boss Dave Bassett said: "The loan move is perfect for Tim because it will give him the chance to get some games under his belt.
"Stockport were delighted to get him and I know he'll do an excellent job for them. The deal is initially for a month but it's up to Stockport if they want to extend it."
Flowers joined Leicester in 1999-2000 and has made 51 (out of an overall total of 490) league appearances for the Filbert Street club.
Stockport boss Andy Kilner said: "I know Tim well because we played in the same England youth side together so our paths have crossed again some years later after Tim has enjoyed a fantastic playing career.
"He wasn't sure about coming but I managed to talk him round."
