A LOOK at the key stats and figures from the Clarets' defeat at Wolves.

BURNLEY

NIK MICHOPOULOS: Did not have a chance with the first and last goals but could have done more to stop Rae grabbing the second. Some good saves after the break. 6

STEVE DAVIS: Like the rest of his team mates he was poor before the break, his distribution not up to his usual standard, but better later on 6

IAN COX: Had an uncomforable if short afternoon as he was the man taken off by Ternent to allow Glen Little into the match after 25 minutes 6

ARTHUR GNOHERE: Had a tough time against Blake, Branch and Proudlock as he was pulled left right and centre. Will hopefully have learned from the experience 6

PAUL WELLER: Run ragged by Kennedy down the right in the opening half hour and looked happier in the second half in a left sided role 6

KEVIN BALL: The game passed him by in the first half but he should have got what would have only been a consolation when heading wide late on 6

TONY GRANT: Had his toughest afternoon to date in a Burnley shirt against the excellent home midfield. His day was summed up when he injured his ankle by tripping himself up 6

PAUL COOK: Enjoyed seeing his lads as the Clarets mascots but the afternoon went downhill from there. Unlucky to see Rae's free kick go inot the net off his head and taken off at half time 6

LEE BRISCOE: Like Weller on the other flank he had a tough day against his opponent with Newton a constant threat. Also did better int he second half 6

IAN MOORE: Booked during the frustrating first half but played the full match, a rarity in itself. Showed some good pace at times and almost forced an own goal at the other end 6

GARETH TAYLOR: Again won a lot of ball in the air and forced a fine save from Oakes with a fierce shot late on. Generally well marshalled by the home defence 6

TALKING TACTICS

Both Stan Ternent and Dave Jones named the same sides that had done service in midweek meaning Burnley's 3-5-2 was up against Wolves 4-4-2.

But having gone two down Glen Little replaced Ian Cox and at half time he went 4-4-2 with Dean West coming on for Cook. Immediately looked better.

TIME FOR ACTION

9 Wolves early pressure is rewarded when the ball finds the top corner as Gareth Taylor meets Mark Kennedy's cross.

11 Paul Cook nearly puts the ball past his keeper from a Kennedy free kick.

20 Alex Rae has far too much time and space to convert a bicycle kick from ten yards to double the lead.

25 Glen Little comes on for Ian Cox as the Clarets try to get back inn the game.

39 Alex Rae's free klick flies past Nik Michopoulos off Cook's head.

44 Arthur Gnohere is robbed by Nathan Blake but his shot is weak.

50 Hooray - Burnley win a corner

57 Michopoulos stops Adam Proudlock's shot and Shaun Newton bounces the rebound over the bar

58 The Greek keeper makes a great save to deny Colin Cameron from long range.

66 Ian Moore's run ends with Paul Butler deflecting his low cross behind.

67 Michael Oakes tips the ball over after Little's cross comes off a home defender.

78 Taylor's drive forces a good save from Oakes after good work by Little

88 Kevin Ball should have headed a consolation but put West's cross wide

MATCH VERDICT

An improved second half show cannot disguise the horrors of the first half.

May have been unlucky with a couple of goals but playing that badly you don't deserve the rub of the green.
