COLNE put on a disappointing display with Norton gaining revenge for Colne's win at their place earlier in the season.

Player-boss John Lister had to come off at half time suffering from the effects of a flu bug and the rest of his team struggled to show the form that has lifted them to a midtable position.

"To be honest too many of the side were off colour," said Lister.

"We have played a lot of games recently and it seemed to take its toll on us.

"The side just looked tired and Norton were sharper than us and deserved the win.

The visitors took the lead after 30 minutes when James Webster lost possession in midfield and Matt Melvin cashed in.

Colne's best spell came in the second half but in the 70th minute Gavin Cooper shot into the side-netting and the Colne defence failed to deal with the resulting goal kick. Keeper Ross Baxter was left flat footed as Jeremy Coxon fired home for Norton to make the points safe.

"We huffed and puffed but it was just one of those days," admitted Lister. "But I am confident that we will bounce back from this set-back. It is just a shame that after such a good month we have ended it with two defeats.
