POLICE were today due to quiz the driver of the car involved in an accident which left a 60-year-old man dead.
The car failed to stop at the time of the incident on Sunday night although subsequent police inquiries managed to trace the driver.
They are still trying to trace the relatives of the dead man.
The 60-year-old victim was walking along Bolton Road at around 6.50pm on Sunday night when he stepped into the road and was struck by two vehicles.
The accident, close to the railway bridge near Blackburn Royal Infirmary, involved cars travelling in opposite directions.
One stopped at the scene but the driver of the second vehicle pulled up and then drove off before being spoken to by police.
Witnesses from both cars were today due to be interviewed.
The hunt is continuing for a woman who may have been associated with the car, and who spoke to other witnesses at the scene.
She was overheard using the name 'Saj', and it is believed she may have been referring to her boyfriend or husband.
The woman was white, in her late 20s, slim, with bleached blonde hair in a bob style. She was wearing a white top and trousers.
Police are asking witnesses to come forward to help with inquiries.
Detective Chief Inspector Ian Kennedy said: "We are appealing for the woman at the scene, as she may be able to provide vital evidence about the collision.
"We are also appealing for anyone in the area at the time to contact the police, including the drivers of a bus and other vehicles who drove past or stopped at the scene."
Anyone with information should contact the police on 01254 353767, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
