FUND-RAISING for Fairfield General Hospital's diabetic unit has become something of a family affair for one Bury household.
Dad Chris Postle (37) has completed nine half-marathons and one full marathon and over the past few years has raised up to £4,000 for the unit.
He was inspired by the fact that his 11-year-old daughter Hannah was diagnosed with diabetes five years ago. She has to inject herself with insulin three times a day.
And when Chris recently took part in his latest fund-raising venture, the Great North Run in Newcastle, his three daughters decided to follow in his footsteps and take part as well.
Chris, pictured with daughters Hannah, Daniella (7), and five-year-old Sophie, raised £500, which is also going to the unit.
Chris, of Brandon Close, said: "I completed the half-marathon while my daughters each ran three miles in the children's race. I've been running marathons and half-marathons for about five years now and was inspired by Hannah when she was diagnosed as a diabetic.
"She attends the diabetic unit at Fairfield every three months for an assessment."
Chris added: "Hannah took part in the children's event at the Great North Run last year. But for the others, it was their first time."
Mum Stephanie is a nurse at the diabetic unit and she cheered on her family at the event.
