BRIGHT sparks from Blackpool primary schools will be feline fine when they sport new cats' eye badges this month.
Children from across the Fylde will be given their own dragon, cat, football and mouse shaped reflectors by Nationwide as part of a UK campaign by the building society to tackle the number of child pedestrians injured and killed in road accidents.
According to Nationwide, by wearing a reflector a child pedestrian can be visible at 150 metres with low beam headlights compared to only 30 metres without one.
Blackpool students will be among 5.5 million UK primary school children given reflectors. In addition, the building society has pledged to provide the country's primary schools with curriculum-linked road safety education packs.
Lisa Hartley, Nationwide's branch manager, said: "Children are at their most vulnerable during the dark winter nights and mornings. We hope that all local primary school pupils in the area will be wearing their reflectors within the coming months.
