A BLACKPOOL hotel is bowled over to be hosting the World Bowls Tour final in the resort this month -- one of the biggest televised indoor bowling events in the sporting calendar.

32 bowlers from around the globe will be competing in the BUPA Care Homes Open at the Norcalympia arena at the Norbreck Castle Hotel, Queens Promenade, from Nov 4 -11.

The current top 16 bowlers in the world will be on the green including the world ranking number one and defending champion David Gourlay, along with World Indoor Champion Paul Foster.

And all the action will be broadcast live on BBC television.

Norbreck Castle Hotel's general manager, Mark Osborne, said: "To secure and host such an important tournament is great news and we are incredibly proud to be associated with the World Bowls Tour and BUPA for this year's championships.

"This is a major scoop for the Norcalympia and for Blackpool."

Tickets are available for each stage of the event, with prices starting from just £3. For further information or to book call (01253) 352341.
