SATURDAY saw the Seasiders obtain another consecutive home win and at last a clean sheet at Bloomfield Road -- and then Tuesday night saw us push through to the next round of the LDV Trophy after a comfortable win (and another clean sheet) at Mansfield.

Saturday's game was not a classic performance and neither team played pretty football but it was a good win for the team and put another three valuable points in the bag.

Some of our injury plagued squad members managed a run-out and Richie Wellens in particular received rapturous applause when he was brought off the bench in place of Bullock after 75 minutes; and Tuesday night saw the welcome return of John Hills.

Danny Coid and Brett Ormerod both had brilliant games against Chesterfield, and Coid well and truly deserved his man-of-the-match award, demonstrating that he can play in almost any position after changing wings when Tommy Jaszczun was brought on.

It is also very pleasing to note that Coid made it into Saturday's Division Two Team of the Day which goes to show what an amazing game he had.

It has to be said that the spirit Macca appears to have instilled in the team is absolutely excellent as recent performances have proved.

The lads seem to have 'bonded' well this season, and despite all the problems with injuries, are constantly proving that they are up to the task and prepared to give as much commitment and enthusiasm as they can to each game.

All credit must go to both Macca and the playing squad who have responded to the season in a pleasingly optimistic manner.

On the day of the play-off final win, many people would not have truly expected us to be in the position we are now, so close to the play-off zone and only losing five of our first fifteen league games.

It just proves how well Macca and the lads are doing back in the second division and we hope that they can keep this form up for the rest of the season.

Many of Real Progress' views have been made abundantly clear through articles in past weeks and we therefore feel that we do not need to keep dredging certain issues up and going over the same ground week in week out.

As many Real Progress members are also members of BSA, we hope that some of our main concerns will have been addressed and hopefully answered at the BSA and Tango Fans Forum on Monday night.

However, one issue which must be raised this week is the statement made by Steve McMahon in relation to money to be made available to him for team strengthening. We are pleased that Steve has responded to requests for such a statement to be made and that all supporters heard how this issue lies with the chairman.

This weekend sees us away at Brentford and we hope for another solid performance. Come on the Pool.

Macca has stated that no money is available to him at present which is fine, however he has stated that until we achieve gates of 10,000 plus, no money will be forthcoming to boost the current squad.

The blatantly obvious question which comes to mind however is how we can ever achieve this? When the new stands are open, the home crowd capacity will be about 8,000 which means that to achieve gates of 10,000 plus we need away teams to consistently bring at least 2,000 supporters with them. Is this a highly probable situation?

The answer is probably not, and therefore Macca will not be receiving much money until the remaining sides to the ground are built and we can get more than 8,000 home fans into the ground.

Would the Club therefore consider allowing half of the East Paddock to be handed back to home fans when we play teams we know are going to bring a low number of supporters with them?

Many of the traditional Blackpool fans would indeed relish the prospect of watching their team from the East Paddock even if only on occasions and this would allow the home support to be boosted also.

Nevertheless, Macca and the lads are doing brilliantly, we finally got a clean sheet at home, and three vital points at the weekend.

Although in the bottom half of the table, we're only four points outside the play-off zone and of course we have the Stoke game in hand so hopefully we can capitalise on that and get ourselves up in the top half before too long.

This weekend sees us away at Brentford where we hope the Seasiders can give us another solid performance. Come on the 'Pool.
