THE Bury-Radcliffe connection at Stockport County is still going strong -- despite Andy Kilner's departure from Edgley Park.
Neill Hardy was plucked from non-league Radcliffe Borough in the UniBond First Division and taken straight into the Nationwide First Division by County -- and now former Bury striker Craig Madden has taken over temporary charge at Stockport following former Radcliffe Borough player Kilner's exit.
Hardy, who has made three full appearances for Stockport, five as a substitute, and scored two goals -- both in the same game -- has been troubled by a knee injury, but came on again in Tuesday night's 2-0 home defeat against Walsall.
"We were all gutted for Andy," said Hardy. "He's a really young bloke. He's genuine and tried his hardest.
"I felt particularly sorry for him because it was Andy who took me from non-league and gave me a chance.
"I have not had a chance to speak to him yet. He was so upset he couldn't bring himself to tak to the players.
"He will probably ring us all individually. I would certainly like to say a few things to him.
"No we have just got to get on with it because it's down to us the players at the end of the day.
"Craig Madden has taken over the reins. He was the reserve team coach. I don't know whether he wants the job full-time.
"Andy was badly affected by what happened and Craig seems happy with what he had already. We'll have to wait and see."
Boro boss Kevin Glendon brought Kilner to Radcliffe and played with him at Burnley. "I' m waiting for a phone call from Andy. I left a message with him.
"It's a shame, but what can you do. Andy Ritchie has gone too now at Oldham. It's just ridiculous. You can't be having that all the time."
