I AM disgusted by the apparent indifference of the police to the marauding gatherings of callow youths and young girls who are causing deep distress to residents in the Highfield district of my beloved town with Chinese fireworks which have no apparent aesthetic value but cause horrendous explosions.

I am by no means a killjoy, but surely these offensive fireworks could be curtailed by some means?

This has been going on since early October and will no doubt be still with us until after New Year 2002.
