BRENTFORD boss Steve Coppell is hoping to extend the loan of Rovers striker Ben Burgess until the end of the season.
The 19-year-old Academy starlet has been a huge hit at Griffin Park this term, helping the Bees to top spot in the Second Division.
And I can reveal Coppell plans to contact Rovers later today about the possibility of extending the arrangement until next summer.
Burgess, himself, is keen on the idea and Rovers are likely to sanction the move with the Republic of Ireland Under 21 international still someway off the first team at Ewood.
But the giant striker's long-term future is still in the balance as he fights to establish himself at first team level.
"I asked Graeme Souness what was best and he told me I wasn't going to get a chance at Rovers. I don't know exactly where that leaves me," said Burgess.
"I've got another year on my contract after this one.
"I think I can play in the Premiership but whether I get that chance at Blackburn is another question.
"I've wanted to get my situation at Brentford sorted for some while.
"There have been other clubs interested but I saw no point in moving.
"I'm really enjoying my time here. I get on well with the manager and the players and we're hopeful of getting promotion."
